I wrote this one (and chatGPT helped make the image) while thinking about the fact that while we can have so much knowledge that doesn’t change the way we feel. No matter how hard we try knowledge won’t change our feelings.
This poem reminded me of Ephesians 3:17-19 specifically in 19 when it says “…to know the love of God that surpasses knowledge…” knowledge is where it starts but the love of God goes beyond just knowledge and to feelings. We can know His love but not only that but we can also feel His love.
Yes, we do need knowledge, but we also need feelings. Yes, we need feelings, but sometimes our feelings can be misleading and can take us down a road we shouldn’t be on, and that is when we need knowledge to help us get back on track.
Knowledge:
We all know there are ups and downs to life,
And yet we still struggle with the downs.
We all know there are highs and lows,
And yet we still doubt God in lows.
We all know there are seasons for everything,
And yet we are impatient in the waiting.
Is knowledge enough?
Is knowing truth enough to change our response?
Knowledge doesn’t change feelings
Knowing everything will not change your feelings
But knowledge is truth
And feelings are warnings to a heart attitude
Knowledge is facts
Feelings are a cautionary tale of a inward heart
You can know everything
And yet feel nothing.
So is knowledge is enough?
No, it is not.
There must be a heart attitude,
There must be a deep root of love holding you.
There must be a foundation of love to which you hold onto
There must be a connection to the creator of theses moments.
So what are rooted in?
What is your foundation?
What are you connected to?
What will you do when the ups and downs come?
